The Index-Pickett Historical Museum is in the former home of nationally known photographer Lee Pickett whose collection of glass and film negatives is held at the University of Washington’s Allen Library, Special Collections. The museum documents Index area history using his photos as well as hundreds of images and artifacts contributed by the community since Pickett’s death.

The Pickett Museum is open from 1pm to 4pm on Fridays and Saturdays from Memorial Day weekend through September and offers private/custom mid-week tours by appointment. You will find not only exhibits but videos, a computer photo catalog, and a computer mapping system for comparing town property ownership decade by decade.

Museum Tours by Request
Museum Tours are available year-round for your family or group. Please contact us for availability. You can also arrange an Index Historical Walking Tour for a group of between 5-12 people throughout the year! Please call 360-793-1534 to request a date. Suggested donation is $5 per person and each participant receives a commemorative map of the town with thumbnail images.

Hello. I am searching for photos and information about the following surnames: Redick, Cleveland, Mowbray. My dad and his parents and grandparents lived in Index. He was born in 1919 and name was Arthur Redick. His sister was Dorothy.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.

    Thank you.
